An access log is a thorough list of all the files that were accessed by the guests of a particular site. Every single file that was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log usually shows the file name and path, the date, along with the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Sometimes you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The information an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the functionality of an Internet site, besides the web stats that your server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our custom Hepsia CP has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud hosting account and navigate to this section, you will find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you shall see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you no longer require one, you'll be able to stop it with only a mouse click from the very same section of the Control Panel. You'll still have the ability to access the already generated content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our sophisticated hosting platform will create access logs for every Internet site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server account, assuming that this feature is activated. All domain names and subdomains that you have will be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we provide with all the accounts, so if you need our system to start producing logs for each of them, you should just click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You'll be able to stop this function anytime by following exactly the same steps. You can find a Download link for every single log within the very same section of the Control Panel, so you can save the content produced by our system in .txt format with no more than a click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you will still be able to look at the data which has already been generated.
